Observations in the Garden
Butterflies are here
Last week, the chrysalises of our painted ladies opened, and the children gathered close to watch butterflies emerge into the warm light.
“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.”
Life in the garden changes quickly. One week, we said farewell to Chip, our beloved bunny, as he crossed the rainbow bridge. Next, we stood in quiet wonder, watching caterpillars transform into delicate, winged wonders.
In the orchard, green and purple plums still hang heavy, offering their sweetness in each day’s harvest. The peaches, still without their peachy color, wait patiently. Apples and pears grow plump, and the children giggle at the squirrels’ attempts to haul them up and into Grandmother Oak for munching.
Moving forward, these entries will be called Observations in the Garden, a space to notice not only the life of our plants but also the life of the teachers and children who share this journey.
